In the last eight months my family has been unlucky enough to have three truly awful restaurant meals. That’s probably about one third of all the meals out which we have had in that time. These meals were all either treats or necessities. One was a lunch on a long motorway journey, one was a meal out on holiday and the third was a family celebration. We’re not made of money; our children are secondary school age and don’t normally order from the kids menu, so the cost is significant. It makes me realise how brave my restaurant reviewing blogger…View Post

For the last month I have been testing the new Samsung Galaxy S8+ mobile phone. This was on loan to me courtesy of Three.co.uk . As you will see, all the opinions are my own. Samsung have aimed to set a new benchmark with this phone which is the biggest android launch of 2017. Samsung Has Come So Far I last bought a new mobile phone two and a half years ago. When I was browsing phones in shops, I had a good look at the Samsungs and they felt quite flimsy in my hand. I wasn’t sure that the…View Post
My husband and two daughters (ages 12 and 15) are all enthusiastic builders of models and sets. They are even making an elaborate N-gauge model railway. When Arckit got in touch to say they are launching a Kickstarter – and offered us the chance to review their architectural model building kit – I knew my family would be keen. Arckit in a nutshell It’s tempting to describe Arckit by saying what it is not. It is not Lego; it is not Playmobil; it is not an Airfix model kit or anything like that, and yet it has a lot of the same appeal. You…View Post
I’ve written an usual shopping list today. My husband is stranded in France this morning. Just for a few hours. His flight home has been cancelled because of bad weather so he’s coming on a later flight. Every time he goes on a business trip to Europe the timing is incredibly tight and we are lucky if he comes home with a souvenir fridge magnet, purchased in the airport. So when I heard he had a few hours of waiting around this morning I begged him to pop to the supermarket! I don’t know if he will but here’s…View Post
Sponsored post – we were given Chalkola Chalk Pens to review but all words and opinions are my own. We’ve had some great fun this week with Chalkola pens. My teenage and tween-age children have both enjoyed these fun chalk markers mainly because I’ve let them draw on the windows! Chalkola pens easily wipe off glass and are ideal pens to decorate windows and mirrors or even the fridge. Of course they’re good on chalkboards too and I tested them on the kitchen cupboards with good results. They’re a versatile alternative to a dry erase marker. I’m pleased these pens seem to get…View Post
