Girl playing on a large sandy beach and two girls paddling in a lake plus blog title 15 family travel bloggers to follow on Falcondale Life blog.

I recently asked my Instagram and Facebook followers what they remember best from reading my blog and following me on social media. Most answers were about my travel posts. It’s so nice to know that my travel stories and tips have resonated with people! Yet over the last two summers I have barely been anywhere. Our travel plans got cancelled with just a few hours’ notice when my daughter was suddenly hospitalized. Her illness turns out to be chronic and our lifestyle has changed. Our elaborate family tours of France and the USA have had to stop completely. We can’t go far as a family, not even within the UK.

Now stuck with only local destinations it is lucky we are in Yorkshire. The North York Moors are such a peaceful destination. The coast is picturesque, the Dales are green and rolling, the Abbeys are majestic and the towns are historic and pretty. I’ll still be writing about all of these, plus some reminiscent posts from other destinations. Sometimes when sorting through my thousands of photos, I remember a tale I want to tell from a past trip and share the photos. My travel posts will live on as one of the main categories of my blog.

For other types of travel, I can recommend you other bloggers. All of them write about a variety of travel topics but I have picked my favourite thing about each one to share with you.

1 Our Bucket List Lives

This is a blog I particularly like for dreams of caravan holidays. Caravans never go out of style because they are always popular with growing families. Suzy and her family have reviewed dozens of caravan parks and have lots of caravanning tips to offer too. Outdoor life, days out and many other things also fill this family blog. It all started with her bucket list which has some inspiring and fun ideas for everyone! https://ourbucketlistlives.co.uk/bucket-list/400-family-bucket-list-travel/

2 Yorkshire Wonders

As the name suggests this is a blog to showcase the wonders of God’s own county. Family days out feature strongly. What I find most useful is the extensive coverage of York and plenty more to do across the north of England. In fact Nikki and her family have tried and tested days out and attractions from all over the UK and beyond as well. Some featured foreign destinations include the USA, Croatia and Greece, but this blog is my go-to for Yorkshire family fun. https://yorkshirewonders.co.uk/

3 Are We Nearly There Yet?

This aptly titled family travel blog covers many things I like about independent family travel. My favourite posts are about things to do and places to stay on holiday in France, although Kara has some fascinating posts about other European destinations too. She is a keen photographer, and this spills over into her YouTube channel. Here you can find some picturesque footage; the travel videos are quite immersive and atmospheric. This blog also has a big section on eating out. https://arewenearlythereyet.eu/

4 Life of Spicers

Disney is a dream destination for many families. Although many bloggers cover it, Angela’s blog is my personal top pick for Disney theme park holidays. There’s lots to discover with well over 100 blog post articles on Disney World Florida alone. She must know it like the back of her hand! Other topics include UK travel and other foreign destinations, with a great selection of family travellers’ tips and ideas too including budgeting. https://thelifeofspicers.com/category/walt-disney-world/

5 Juggling on Roller Skates

One of the first things I noticed about Zoe’s blog is the large section on Glamping! This family have a lot of energy and a sense of adventure, really enjoying the outdoor life. With glamping becoming so popular in recent years it’s great to read the low down on all the different types and styles of accommodation and things to do on site. It’s a blog I would turn to first for outdoor activity holiday ideas. The photos of all the strange pods and tents are so enticing, I’m like a kid in a sweetie shop trying to choose which post to read. https://jugglingonrollerskates.com/category/glamping/

6 Wyld Family Travel

This is the kind of world travel that most people only dream of doing with their tween and teenage kids in tow. However Mark and Bec explain how to see the world as a family on a budget with plenty of practical detail. I love it when a blog demystifies travel and brings it within reach, and that’s exactly what the Wylds do. I have kids of similar ages and it’s great to read about what they get out of their time in far flung places. There are some dream destinations covered including Bali, China, Vegas, Eastern Europe and Australia. This blog is my pick for long haul travel. https://wyldfamilytravel.com/

7 Learning Escapes

As the name suggests, Marta’s blog is focused around her aim to get more out of family travel than just a break. The sections on Italy, Spain and Portugal particularly caught my interest. That’s because this blog has lots of cultural ideas for families visiting these popular short-haul destinations. There’s so much more to these sunny Mediterranean areas than just lying on a sun lounger. This blog is my top pick for cultural travel. https://www.learningescapes.net/

8 Wanderlust and Wet Wipes

When travel really takes over your life, perhaps you are in fact an ex-pat! Emma’s blog has covered her family’s adventures living abroad in various places including the middle East and Singapore. She has written about the highs and lows of experiencing a new country with a young family and how to deal with holiday troubles. It’s a good read if you’re interested in extended stays so this is my top pick for immersive travel. https://www.wanderlustandwetwipes.com/

9 Travelling with our Kids

(aka TWOK blog). Sometimes family travel seems daunting and practical problems overwhelm us. Sam’s blog has lots of useful advice to get you through. She has lots of practical tips, lists and comprehensive guides to cover packing, planning, budgeting, journeys and more. She’s even reviewed a selection of travel products and tackled the tricky issue of taking kids with allergies on holiday. This blog is my top pick for getting organised. https://www.travellingwithourkids.co.uk/

10 Passports and Adventures

For good, detailed advice on travel with younger kids I would send you to this blog. Catherine’s thoughtful travel ideas really suit her young son. There’s lots of inspiration for families with toddlers and pre-schoolers. Want to go to far-flung places like New York? Catherine shows you how your young child will not simply tag along but will have a whale of a time, with activities which really suit the youngest ones. She also has a sweet blog series on visiting castles with her little one, called “dragon hunting”. https://passportsandadventures.com/

11 Big Family Little Adventures

As a Mum of seven children, Mandi and her husband have become experts on finding affordable adventures. This blog covers plenty of days out and self-catering holidays with the main focus on the UK. Cottage holidays and bargain breaks in static caravans have given our own family some of our happiest memories, so this blog has lots that appeals to me. https://bigfamilylittleadventures.co.uk/

12 Pack the PJs

It’s hard to pigeon hole this very comprehensive family travel blog. Tracey used to work in cruise travel and really understands the kind of detail which her readers want. Each post is thorough, with lots of photos and sometimes with a video too. In addition, this blog has plenty of reviews of travel products such as gadgets, accessories, clothes, luggage and lots of games to play on holiday. It’s the focus on better family time together that stands out most in this blog. https://www.packthepjs.com/

13 We Travel in Threes

If you’re the type of person who needs your travel inspiration drip-fed to you over time before choosing, then you need to be following Lou’s social media accounts. In addition to her travel blog, Lou always finds the good stuff to share on social media. Things like travel articles and photos can be found on her Twitter, Facebook and Instagram. I think these are some of the most thought-provoking social media feeds in family travel. This is my top pick for travel inspiration. https://wetravelinthrees.co.uk/

14 Go Live Young

Fasten your seatbelts for this blog which is all about adventure travel for families. Nicky’s family are prepared to put on the safety harnesses and launch themselves into most things. They have camped with the Bedouin, hiked all over Skye, got up close to penguins in South Africa and even stuffed sardines into cans in Norway (for fun!). A big theme of this blog are the family hikes in all corners of the globe. https://www.goliveyoung.com/blog/
